a Magic Kingdom With a Custom Princess Castle Bed

a Magic Kingdom With a Custom Princess Castle Bed

When designing the perfect custom bedroom for your perfect little princess, it only makes sense to design her a bedroom befitting such young royalty.

It's not at all difficult, no harder than it is to design an ordinary children's bedroom, and in fact may turn out to be much easier when you think of all the fun and excitement you both will enjoy as you put it all together. This article will show you just how to make for your special little queen in-the-making her very own magic kingdom.

The Princess Castle Bed is the Thing

The central component of any children's bedroom is the bed itself, and certainly no less so in a custom theme bedroom like this one. In a little princess's magic kingdom, her bed is her princess castle, which is why it only makes sense not to just place in it any ordinary bed a custom princess castle bed.

And more, a custom princess castle bed designed in the colors and style that she adores.

Imagining herself the child-ruler of an entire magic kingdom will be a breeze when the setting is so perfectly set with such a pronounced centerpiece like a princess castle bed. With just this single custom children's furniture component your little princess and her friends can spend untold hours entertaining themselves with their ignited imaginations. And best of all, it will all take place under your roof where you can maintain a protective watch.

More than One Way to Build a Princess Castle Bed

Princess castles come in all shapes and sizes, just like the royalty who dwell within them, and you can custom design your little girl's princess castle bed to fit her unique tastes and personality. Consider adding a loft bed for multiple levels of enjoyment, separating out her sleeping area from her play space while giving her a high vantage point on her entire magic kingdom. Consider adding a canopy bed as well, as it's a simple and inexpensive way to add elements of luxury, femininity, and security to the custom princess castle bed. And if your little princess play hostess to frequent overnight guests, then adding a bunk bed or murphy bed to the custom princess castle bed can transform it even further into a magical multipurpose children's furniture unit.

Fleshing Out the Royal Flair

Once you've settled on a style of princess castle bed for you little girl's new custom bedroom, it's time to think about colors, designs, fabrics, and accessories.

Colors may be pink and white, purple and yellow, gold and silver, or any other combination thereof. Design elements may include flowering vines or rose bushes climbing up the side of the princess castle bed, simulated rock, brick, marble, or granite stone walls, a luxurious staircase to climb up and a waterfall to slide down. Fabrics might be flimsy, billowy fabrics, elaborately patterned lace, thick and shiny silk or satin, or even printed fabrics with patterns or pictures depicting other desired elements for her magic kingdom. Finally, accessories might include a dressing table, a mirror, a hamper, an ottoman, plush carpet or throw rugs, tapestries, and lots of pillows. Oh, and don't forget the ultimate finishing touch for a perfect custom princess castle bed - custom bedding to match!

Making a Princess bed drape n KidKraft Princess Toddler Cot

Making a Princess bed drape is an easy afternoon craft that requires no sewing or any special art skills. By watching the sales, we were able to complete this project for about $24.

Materials needed

For the gauze drape:

Measure the height of the ceiling (rounded to the nearest foot) and multiply this number by 5 to determine the approximate amount of yardage you'll need.

Material to make the crown:

You will need a half sheet of sturdy poster board in a color of your child's choosing, 5 small white styrofoam balls, assortment of flat crafting rhinestones, and a container of leftover paint (either spray, acrylic or tempera).

Tools and additional supplies:

You will need clear strapping tape (or duct tape in a pinch), scissors, glue, staple gun, and a small piece of board that measures 10" long and two inches thick, ruler and pencil.

Making the crown

Begin by dipping the five styrofoam balls in the paint, and setting aside to dry for 30 minutes. While the paint is drying, use your rule and pencil to draw a simple five prong crown on the poster board (the flat crown should measure at least 24 inches across). Cut out the crown, and decorate with rhinestones. Use a knife to cut a small slit in the base of each styrofoam, slide a styrofoam balls onto each crown "point".

Attaching the tulle

If you can visualize how a bridal veil is attached to the tiara, this is pretty much how the sections of tulle will look after being attached to the crown.

How this is done is by first cutting the tulle in four equal lengths. Working with one section of tulle at a time, scrunch up one end of the tulle and tape to the back of the crown. Repeat with remaining three sections. Don't be stingy with the tape!

The framework

At this point, the crown is just a flat bit of poster board with tulle attached to the base. To make the crown look like a real dimensional crown, it has to be curled back in a semi circle, with both lower corners stapled to the opposite ends of the 10 inch board.

The crown can now be attached to the wall by either attaching a hanger to the back of the wood strut, or by attaching the strut directly to the wall, using a 3" screw. Screwing the strut directly to the wall gives the crown the most support, and will prevent your child from accidentally
pulling the crown away from the wall.

Arranging the tulle

Once the crown is firmly in position, untangle the sections of tulle and drape around the bed or tuck loosely beneath the mattress.
